Status: active
Page Count: 8
ICS Code (Bolts, screws, studs): 21.060.10
scope:

This standard specifies dimensions and technical delivery conditions for stud bolts intended for use in light metals (including aluminium). Stud bolts complying with this standard are not suitable for use in steel or cast iron. For economic reasons, it is recommended that, instead of studs with a very small unthreaded portion, stud bolts with an interference-fit thread be used for such applications. However, care shall be taken that the required depth of thread engagement is ensured, since stud bolts are not provided with a thread run-out, which normally determines the depth of thread engagement.

It cannot be assumed with certainty that stud bolts with lengths exceeding those specified for the lengths of engagement in DIN 8141-1 are true to gauge.
