DIN 6929
Screws with coarse thread and reduced shank for captive applications
Organization: | DIN |

ICS Code (Bolts, screws, studs): | 21.060.10 |
scope:
This standard specifies requirements for M3 to M30 bolts and screws ("bolts", for short) with various head styles and a diameter of the unthreaded portion of the shank smaller than the minor diameter. It covers bolts with two types of shank designs: short (K) and long (L).
These bolts can be designed as captive fasteners, e.g. by using a snap ring, where required, as a safeguard to prevent the screw from working loose (see Annex A).
Although such bolts have a reduced shank, they are not considered waisted shank bolts or expansion bolts.
The application of this standard is also permissible analogously for non-standardized products. Due to the shank diameter, the minimum ultimate tensile loads according to DIN EN ISO 898-1, DIN EN ISO 3506-1 and DIN EN 28839 are not reached.
