This series of standards lays down shape and meaning of graphical symbols in the technical documentation for scheme-drawings and plans such as general sketches and similar abstract descriptions for seagoing vessels, inland vessels, vessels of the Deutsche Marine (German Navy), national authorities as well as for offshore-units.
This standard lays down shape and meaning of graphical symbols for shut-off parts, controlling parts and regulating parts for piping systems.
This standard does not apply for graphical symbols for the technical documentation of hydraulic or pneumatic plants. These are given in ISO 1219-1.
