scope:
This Network Rail Telecom standard applies to NRT systems architecture, including strategy and roadmap, architects, technical design and test assurance activities needed to scope systems projects and subsequently technically assure project build, see figure 1. It sets the necessary standards and controls for capability deployment and uplift changes.
This standard applies to NRT critical data facility computer platforms, BSS/OSS applications and operational IT systems owned by Network Rail Telecom and hosted in Network Rail owned buildings.
NOTE 1: All BSS/OSS applications and operational IT systems currently reside in NRT Critical Data Facilities (CDF) located in Didcot and Manchester. This standard applies to:
a) NRT BSS/OSS; and
b) NRT IT Infrastructure services.
This standard does not apply to:
a) NR (including Route Services) IT infrastructure;
b) NRT operational Element Management systems (EMS);

e) NR corporate systems.
NRT Systems Architecture team members assigned to projects supporting technical design and test assurance roles will monitor compliance.
Purpose
The purpose of this L2 Specification is to set the necessary standards and controls to be applied to all Systems Architecture, Technical Design and Test Assurance activities required for business capability deployment, capability uplift, changes to current Business Support Systems (BSS), Operations Support Systems (OSS) applications and/or IT infrastructure.
This Specification will enforce disciplines required by NRT Systems to Scope and provide Design and Test Assurance for System Business and Usual (BAU) and Project derived functional and non-functional requirements.
Adoption and adherence will reduce the current risk of NRT Systems not meeting business requirements, and not considering and/or providing appropriate estimates for the systems aspects will be mitigated.
This specification will make sure that all system architecture and designs comply with required standards and policies whilst meeting the given functional/nonfuncti
