Organization: NR
Publication Date: 3 June 2017
Status: active
Page Count: 93
scope:

This guidance outlines the range of tools and analysis reports available for assessing track geometry trends to remediate the likelihood of a speed restriction being imposed.

The document provides links to various systems that can be used to produce reports for analysis and trending of track geometry data.

It is intended for use as part of periodic track geometry reviews and should be read in conjunction with NR/GN/TRK/060 guidance document.

Purpose

This guidance helps to identify potential TSR/ESR risk sites through data analysis so that appropriate remedial works can be applied to reduce the likelihood of a speed restriction being imposed.

The guidance is designed to support decision making through data analysis, so that appropriate short/medium/long-term mitigation can be applied to minimise the likelihood of a speed restriction being imposed.

Note: The need to apply a speed restriction may follow the identification of an exceedance, to the stated limits, in the relevant Network Rail standard or as the result of a competent person applying reasonable judgement to assess that the section of track concerned is not suitable for normal operation in its current state.
