This Guidance applies to all Station staff, including Customer Service Assistants (CSA), Customer Service Supervisors (CSS) and Customer Service Managers (CSM).

The response options are equally applicable should an "Active Shooter" incident

Purpose

The following guidance has been developed by Government, BTP and UK rail industry, to assist London Underground employees in responding to an "Active Shooter" incident.

An "Active Shooter" incident is defined as an attack consisting of one or more people using firearms, with the intention of causing mass casualties.

Employee responsibilities

Station staff should take note of the guidance and understand the response options available to them should an "Active Shooter" incident occur on a London Underground train. 

Management responsibilities for those who train, employ or Station staff

As the accountable person it is your responsibility to ensure that the information contained within this guidance note, is made available to all your relevant employees, and that they fully understand what is expected of them in these circumstances.

All relevant employees should be refreshed and exercised at regular intervals on this guidance, in order to maintain their understanding and familiarity of it.

The exercising and familiarisation can be done at a local level or in conjunction with Skills Development during Continued Development Programme (CDP), and other learning interventions.
