active, Most Current
Organization: LUL
Publication Date: 1 August 2022
Status: active
Page Count: 7
scope:

This Guidance applies to all Station staff, including Customer Service Assistants (CSAs), Customer Service Supervisors (CSSs) and Customer Service Managers (CSMs).

The response options are equally applicable should an "Active Shooter" incident commence within the station, or on board a train that arrives into a station.

There is a separate security guidance note that covers the circumstances if an attack takes place outside or in the immediate vicinity of a station. (G2200 - Response options for a Marauding Terrorist Attack external to LU premises).

Purpose

The following guidance has been based upon information developed by Government, British Transport Police (BTP) and the UK rail industry to assist London Underground (LU) employees in responding to an "Active Shooter" incident.

An "Active Shooter" incident is defined as an attack consisting of one or more people using firearms, with the intention of causing mass casualties.
