Welding consumables - Solid wire electrodes, tubular cored electrodes and electrode/flux combinations for submerged arc welding of non alloy and fine grain steels - Classification

active, Most Current
Organization: TSE
Publication Date: 9 December 2016
Status: active
ICS Code (Welding consumables): 25.160.20
scope:

This standard specifies the requirements for the classificationof electrode/flux combinations and weld metal in the as-weldedcondition and in the post-weld heat-treated condition for submergedarc welding of non-alloy and fine grain steels with minimum yieldstrength of up to 500 MPa or a minimum tensile strength of up to570 MPa. One flux can be classified with different solid wireelectrodes and tubular cored electrodes. The solid wire electrodeis also classified separately based on chemical composition. Thisstandard is a combined specification providing for classificationutilizing a system based upon the yield strength and the averageimpact energy for weld metal of 47 J, or utilizing a system basedupon the tensile strength and the average impact energy for weldmetal of 27 J. a) Paragraphs and tables which carry the suffixletter ?A? are applicable only to electrode/flux combinations andwire electrodes classified using the system based upon the yieldstrength and the average impact energy for weld metal of 47 J, inaccordance with this International Standard. b) Clauses and tableswhich carry the suffix letter ?B? are applicable only toelectrode/flux combinations and wire electrodes classified usingthe system based upon the tensile strength and the average impactenergy for weld metal of 27 J, in accordance with thisInternational Standard. c) Clauses and tables which do not haveeither the suffix letter ?A? or the suffix letter ?B? areapplicable to all electrode/flux combinations and wire electrodesclassified in accordance with this International Standard. Fluxesfor the single-run and two-run techniques are classified on thebasis of the two-run technique.
