scope:

The present standard covers the mobile electric/ electronic energy and data transmission systems commonly used today in the field of crane technology in accordance with DIN 15001-1 and DIN 15001-2.

In this standard, the major energy and data transmission systems for cranes are presented according to technical criteria, and classified and evaluated based on their areas of application on crane systems. It enables the preselection and optimisation of EDT systems required on the crane by utilising the compiled evaluation criteria and evaluations.

This standard does not take account of EDT for hydraulic and pneumatic systems or of the special requirements placed on storage and retrieval machines, lifting platform technology, clean room conditions, offshore use, and passenger transportation systems.

The present standard is limited to a technical evaluation of EDT systems since a cost-related evaluation of provisioning and maintenance requirements is not appropriate due to the large number of EDT system providers and systems available.
