Scope and Applicability.

This instruction applies to all U.S. Navy commands, activities, and personnel involved in the Navy MUSE program management and oversight processes.

Purpose

a. To update and delineate specific responsibilities for managing the Mobile Utilities Support Equipment (MUSE) Program.

b. Summary of changes to the instruction include MUSE no longer supporting steam plants in inventory; clarification of annual budget review with Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV) Director, Shore Readiness Division (OPNAV N46); addition of OPNAV N46 responsibilities; clarification of transportation funding responsibility for non-Department of Defense (DoD) user activities; and clarification of where to request MUSE support. This instruction is a complete revision and should be reviewed in its entirety.
