scope:

PURPOSE.

This Manual reissues DoD 5200.1-H (Reference (a)) as a DoD Manual in accordance with the authority in DoD Directive (DoDD) 5143.01 (Reference (b)) and DoD Instruction (DoDI) 5200.01 (Reference (c)) to provide guidance for the development of security classification guidance pursuant to section 2.2 of Executive Order (E.O.) 13526 (Reference (d)), part 2001.15 of title 32, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) (Reference (e)), and DoD Manual 5200.01 (Reference (f)).

APPLICABILITY.

This Manual applies to OSD, the Military Departments, the Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Joint Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense, the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field Activities, and all other organizational entities within the DoD (hereinafter referred to collectively as the "DoD Components").
