The scope of the Automatic Taxiing, in relation with the different operational phases of flight, is reported in this paragraph, together with a schematic depiction in Figure 1-1.

AutoTaxi scope covers all certified fixed-wing RPAS (e.g. HALE, MALE or tactical RPAS) without passenger on-board. In accordance with the RPAS definition from ICAO, autonomous UAS, which do not allow pilot intervention during taxi, are out of scope.

Taxi operations are considered taking place on controlled or uncontrolled land aerodrome (civilian or military) with paved movement area. Moving platforms, such as carrier ships or maritime platforms, are out of scope.
