scope:

This standard is applicable to post insulators of organic material for indoor service in electrical installations or equipment operating in air at atmospheric pressure on alternating current with a nominal voltage greater than 1000 V up to but not including 300 kV and a frequency not greater than 100 Hz. This standard is applicable to post insulators of cast epoxy resin for which there is a long experience. Provisionally, it can alo be used as a guide for the minimum test requirements on post insulators of other organic materials. When enough experience is gained with these other organic materials, it will be possible, if necessary to modify this standard.
