scope:
This code of practice is an information guide to NEN 1812. The standard only deals with office chairs adjustable in height and office desks adjustable in height. Height-adjustable chairs are a common feature in offices.. The situation is different for height adjustable desks. With a view to the development with respect to the differences in length of the Dutch population as well to the multifunctional use of office desks NEN 1812 assumes the use of height-adjustable desks in the future. This view of the future does not imply that desks not adjustable in height are useless. With this sort of desk at most 50% of a population can assume an ergonomically responsible working position. For height-adjustable desks this figure is at least 90%.
