Applies to circuit-breakers above 1000 V a.c. up tp 60 Hz for indoor and outdoor installation including their operating devices and auxiliary equipment. It deals with definitions characteristics, especially concerning their behaviour with respect to overload and short-circuit, and the method of design and construction and dielectric properties. Type and routine tests are dealt with in detail and are together with calculation rules, complemented by eight appendices. Excluded are circuit-breakers used in connection with overhead-line series capacitors and in the field of electric traction and circuit-breakers equipped with dependent manual drives.
