scope:
This instruction/order pertains to all categories of naval conventional ordanance, including sonobuoys and Marine Corps Class V (A) aviation ordnance. However, for Class V (W) ground ammunition managed by the U.S. Marine Corps, Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) (AM), for inventories owned by Commander, Naval Special Warfare Command (COMNAVSPECWARCOM) and the U.S. Coast Guard, it applies only to storage requirements. This instruction pertains to ordnance positioning and availability assessment during peacetime and repositioning, risk assessment and allocation during times of conflict. Within the context of this instruction/order, the following terms have the following applicability.
Purpose.
To define naval conventional ordnance operational logistics policy in support of operational plans (OPLANS), operational plans in concept form (CONPLANS), small scale contingencies (SSC) and other operational requirements. This instruction/order has been reviewed and concurred with by the Naval Ordnance Domain (NOD). It has been completely revised and should be reviewed in its entirery.
