Applies to heat meters, that is to instruments intended for measuring the heat which, in a heat-exchange circuit, is absorbed or given up by a liquid called the heat-conveying liquid. The meter indicates heat quantity in legal units. Electricity safety requirements are not covered by this standard. Meters with surface mounted temperature sensors are not yet included in this standard. Part 5 covers the initial verification which is intended to ensure, that heat meters which are put into service, conform to an approved pattern and to regulations, i.e. have specified metrological characteristics within the limits of the maximum permissible errors and function properly.
