EN 1997-1 is intended to be used as a general basis for the geotechnical aspects of the design of buildings and civil engineering works. This standard has been composed on basis of the complete text of NEN-EN 1997-1 in which the appropriateplaces in the text the accompanying texts of the national annex to NEN-EN 1997-1 and NEN 9097-1 have been incorporated. NE 9097-1 contains the necessary complementary rules for application of Eurocode 7 part 1 in the Netherlands, orginating from NEN 6740, NEN 6743-1, NEN 6744 and CUR C-166.
