Is intended to replaces eventually in conjunction with the other parts of this standard IEC 538 and IEC 540. Gives for this reason in Appendix A a table of cross-references between the relevant clauses in all three publications. Lays down methods for tests at low temperature which apply to PVC and PE compounds. Specifies conditioning values and testing parameters which are applicable to the most common types of insulating and sheathing compounds and of cables, wires and cords.
