This part of the standard concerns type testing on air-filled insulating glass units and gives the requirements and method of test for edge seal durability in respect of the moisture penetration. For gas-filled insulating glass units, additional requirements and methods of test are described in part 3 of this standard. In part 2 of this standard, the whole range of insulating glass units within one type of unit is represented by test samples consisting of 2 sheets of 4 mm flat clear float glass, length 500 mm, width 350 mm, gap 12 mm, air filled. When this test is carried out in conjunction with part 3 of this standard, the gap may be gas-filled.
