This Defence Standard relates to the various types of flexible hose assemblies (FHA's) for use in platform and machinery systems of submarines.

This standard covers the through life requirements of FHA's, from design, type testing, procurement, packaging, storage, installation, maintenance, and replacement to their subsequent disposal.

This standard supplements DEF STAN 02-345 [Requirements for Flexible Rubber Pipe Assemblies and Bellows for use in Systems from Vacuum to 20 bar], but excludes flexible pipes for High Pressure (HP) hydraulic systems, covered by DEF STAN 47-032 [Rubber Hose and Hose Assemblies for Fluid Power Systems].
