Purpose. To explain the policy on soldier relationships contained in AR 600-20, paragraphs 4-14 through 4-16. It provides examples to help soldiers, commanders, and Army civilians understand Army custom and regulation on relationships between members of different rank.

Applicability. This pamphlet applies to the Active Army, Army National Guard and Army Reserve. Procedures in this pamphlet are not modified during mobilization.
