Appliances submitted for examination under this standard shall be classified as portable. These products are not intended for commercial use.

This standard applies to recreational vehicle grills (see 1.1.4-e and Part IV, Definitions) mounted to the exterior of a recreational vehicle for connection to the recreational vehicle's low pressure LP gas supply system (see 1.1.6). It does not apply to appliances for installation in the interior living space of a recreational vehicle.

This standard does not apply to fryer/boilers and smokers for installation in or on recreational vehicles. This standard does not apply to appliances for installation in or on boats.

An appliance may be a:

a. Fryer/Boiler;

b. Smoker;

c. Table top grill;

d. Any combination of the above; or

e. Recreational Vehicle grill.

Appliances may be for connection to:

a. A fixed fuel piping system; or

b. A self-contained liquefied petroleum gas or propane gas supply system of a single cylinder with a maximum size of 20 lb (9.1 kg) of fuel.

This standard applies to appliances operating at inlet gas pressures not to exceed ½ psi (3.5 kPa) for connection to a fixed fuel piping system:

a. For use with natural gas;

b. For use with manufactured gas;

c. For use with mixed gas;

d. For use with liquefied petroleum gases; and

e. For use with LP gas-air mixtures.

This standard also applies to appliances designed for connection to self-contained LP-gas and propane gas supply systems (see 1.5, Fixed Fuel Piping Systems):

1. Operating at regulated outlet pressures not to exceed 1 psi (6.9 kPa); and

2. Operating at regulated outlet pressures in excess of 1 psi (6.9 kPa) but not greater than 10 psi (69 kPa).

The construction of appliances for use with the above-mentioned gases is covered under Part I.

The performance of appliances for use with the above-mentioned gases is covered under Part II.

Throughout this document gauge pressures are designated in pounds per square inch, (psi) and kilopascals (kPa). Use of the terminology "psig" is not used. Where "psi" is used it is understood to be pound per square inch gauge. Absolute pressures are not used in this standard.

If a value for a measurement as given in this standard is followed by an equivalent value in other units, the first stated value is to be regarded as the specification. (Also see Exhibit C, Items Unique To Canada.)

Exhibit A, LP-Gas Cylinder Label, contains the LP-Gas Cylinder Label.

Exhibit B, Items Unique To The United States, contains provisions that are unique to the United States.

Exhibit C, Items Unique To Canada, contains provisions that are unique to Canada.

Exhibit D, List of Reference Standards, contains a list of standards specifically referenced in this standard, and sources from which these reference standards may be obtained.
