PURPOSE

This Instruction:

Reissues Reference (a) as a DoD Instruction pursuant to the authority of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy (USD(P)) in Reference (b) and the guidance in Reference (c).

Establishes policies and assigns responsibilities for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the joint deployment and redeployment processes.

Designates the Commander, United States Joint Forces Command (CDRUSJFCOM), as the DoD Joint Deployment Process Owner (JDPO) responsible for coordinating, sustaining, and improving processes; coordinating the creation of new deployment and/or redeployment processes, where appropriate; and being accountable for deployment/redeployment process outcomes.

Focus of the DoD Instruction is to establish and assign responsibilities for joint deployment and redeployment process improvement and business rules to execute joint deployment and redeployment operations.

APPLICABILITY

This Instruction applies to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Military Departments, the Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Joint Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense, the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field Activities, and all other organizational entities within the Department of Defense (hereafter referred to collectively as the "DoD Components").
