This specification covers the packaging, packing, and marking of electronic test equipment, calibration standards and associated equipment for all levels of protection (see 6.1).

The equipment shall be classified in one of the following groups:

Group I Items 60 lbs. to 150 lbs. (See Figures 1 and 2) Group II Items 20 lbs. to 60 lbs. (See Figures 1 and 2) Group III Items up to 20 lbs. (See Figures 3, 4, 5 and 6) Group IV Items up to 20 lbs. (See Figure 7)

The equipment shall be prepared for storage or shipment by one of the following levels of packaging and packing.

(a) Packaging

(1) Level A - Packaging which will afford adequate protection against corrosion deterioration or physical damage during shipment, handling, indeterminate storage, and world-wide distribution.

(2) Level C - Packaging which will afford adequate protection against physical damage during shipment to and from calibration depots for immediate use.

(b) Packing

(1) Level A and B - Packing which will afford adequate protection during shipment, handling, indeterminate storage, and permit domestic and world-wide distribution.

(2) Level C - Packing which will afford protection during shipment to and from calibration depots for immediate use.

intended Use:

Unless otherwise specified, this specification shall be used as packaging instructions for electronic test equipment, calibration standards and associated equipment. (See 6.5)
