|Publication Date:||1 December 2000|
|ICS Code (Noise emitted by machines and equipment):||17.140.20|
|ICS Code (Cleaning appliances):||97.080|
These particular requirements apply to electrical vacuum cleaners (including their accessories and their component parts) for household and similar use.
This standard applies as it is to electrical vacuum cleaners operating in dry conditions. Some additions and modifications for vacuum cleaners operating in wet conditions are under consideration.
By "similar use" is understood use in conditions similar to those in households, for example in inns, coffee houses and tea rooms.
This standard does not apply to vacuum cleaners for industrial or professional purposes.
Types of noise
ISO 3743-1, ISO 3743-2 and ISO 3744 can all be used for measuring noise emitted by vacuum cleaners.
Size of the source
The method specified in ISO 3744 is applicable to noise sources of any size. In applying ISO 3743-1 and ISO 3743-2, care should be taken to ensure that the maximum size of the vacuum cleaner under test fulfils the requirements specified in 1.3 of ISO 3743-1 and ISO 3743-2.
