scope:
This standard applies to all structures, platforms and stepping distances on running lines and in depots and sidings.
It covers the inspection, maintenance and approval of clearances and the requirements for places of safety on the track.
Where it is mandatory that any of the supporting information in Section 5 of this standard is to be applied, the appropriate requirement is set in Section 3.
This issue of the standard replaces 1-156 A2.
Purpose
The purpose of this standard is to define the required clearances and limiting dimensions of infrastructure and trains.
