Purpose
The purpose of this Standard is to define in output terms, the requirements for LU Station Security Monitoring CCTV systems and to ensure that a uniform and consistent approach is undertaken for the installation, operation and performance of such systems.
Where conflicts arise, this standard has precedence over any other standard that has an issue date prior to this standard.
The Station Security Monitoring CCTV systems support and enable the safe management of stations.
Station Security Monitoring CCTV systems are required to provide visual surveillance facilities to improve passenger and staff safety and to aid security monitoring and crowd control at stations. This is carried out at station, group and central locations. They also provide the BTP with an investigative tool to prevent and detect crime.
The physical presence of Security Monitoring CCTV systems provides assurance to the travelling public and station staff that LU are monitoring and recording the station public areas. It also acts as a deterrent to potential criminals.
