inactive
Organization: LUL
Publication Date: 1 October 2009
Status: inactive
Page Count: 37
scope:

This Standard applies to mainline and depot sections of the London Underground Railway which are signalled using conventional or transmission based technology. It is applicable to safety and safety-related parts of the signalling system.

This Standard focuses on requirements for the third stage of the lifecycle, Installation, Testing, Commissioning and Handover. However, the totality of requirements contained within the complete suite of Signalling and Signalling Control Standards, see 5.1.2, must be complied with for these systems.

This standard applies to the pre-commissioning and commissioning of signalling systems. It also applies to decommissioning and removal from service (whether temporary or permanent), in relation to its potential impact on the integrity of the remaining system.

This standard applies to in-situ testing on the system and also to site-specific testing taking place away from the railway (for example pre-wired racks or location cases, or data-driven interlockings).

For clauses 3.1.4.2, 3.4.3.3.1, 3.4.3.3.6, 3.4.3.4.1, 3.4.4.1.1, Attachment 1 Paragraph 6, Attachment 3 Paragraphs 1.1 and 1.2.

Suppliers may offer an alternative providing that the option is in accordance with Good Industry Practice, BS and ENs and that risks are always managed ALARP.

Suppliers shall declare the option and provide evidence of meeting both the criteria described above and their own standards where applicable.

This issue of the standard replaces 1-198 A1.

Purpose

The purpose of this Standard is to define the Signalling and Signalling Control Installation, Testing, Commissioning and Handover Requirements which are mandatory to Signalling and Signalling Control Systems used anywhere on the London Underground throughout the whole life-cycle of the system.
