scope:

a) This standard outlines the principal types of Naval Equipment and recommends procedures and processes to be used to provide adequate protection against corrosion. Design features, which assist in preventing the formation of corrosion, are highlighted and suitable protective finishes are indicated for the majority of the metals in common use.

b) Guidance on Hull Preservation Processes is given in BR3939, as amended by the current issue of "Warpaint" publication, to which this standard will refer for current painting systems.
