Light assemblies covered by this specification are intended for use on military tracked vehicles to provide general illumination ahead of the vehicle for the safe operation of the vehicle during darkness and other conditions of reduced visibility. The two types covered by this specification are similar except for their base assemblies. The light assemblies are designed for use with sealed-beam units and lamp bulbs having a design voltage of 28 Vdc. The light assembly covered by this specification are military unique because they must be able to operate satisfactorily at ambient temperatures ranging from minus 55 °C to plus 71 °C. Commercial components are not designed to withstand such extreme environmental conditions and would experience failure.
