PURPOSE.This instruction implements Executive Order 12958, Classified National Security Information, and associated directives within the United States Coast Guard. It establishes the Coast Guard Classified Information Management Program to promote proper and effective classification, safeguarding, accounting, declassification and downgrading of official information requiring protection in the interest of national security.
