5 types of requirement are specified dependent upon the severity of service operation of the component.

Type A1: is applicable to surface finishes used on the external body and on external components in areas of severe service operations e. g. below the WL-line (Fascia bumper, Radiator grille, MOLD'G R/PNL, CVR towing eye etc.)

Type A2: is applicable to surface finishes used on the external body and on external components in areas of normal service operations e.g. above the WL-line. (Handle trunk lid, OSRVM housing, Door fuel filler, Outside door handle etc.)

Type A3: is applicable to surface finishes on integral skinned polyurethane foam parts used on the external body.

Type B1: is applicable to surface finishes used on internal body parts and components within the engine compartment.

Type B2: is applicable to surface finishes used on internal body parts and components in areas of normal service operation.

PURPOSE

This specification details the performance requirements for applied organic surface coatings on plastic parts and components, used for either interior or exterior applications on motor vehicles.
