scope:

This guideline sets forth recommended design criteria, components, and the specifications for traditional lightning protection systems installed on water-cooling towers. To determine whether lightning protection may be required for a structure, refer to the current edition of NFPA-780, Annex H entitled "Lightning Risk Assessment."

Purpose - The purpose of this standard is to provide for the correct selection of materials and installation procedures of lightning protection systems as well as for the safety of persons and/or property from the hazards associated with exposure to lightning.

Listed, Labeled or Approved Components - Where fittings, devices or other components required by this guideline are available as listed or labeled, such components should be used.
