scope:

This standard is intended to cover the minimum requirements for general-purpose steam turbines for refinery services. These shall include basic design, materials. related lube oil systems, controls, auxiliary equipment, and gear units.

Steam turbines-i.e, general- and special-purpose- are classified according to service requirements. The purchaser shall specify the type of turbine dependent upon his needs This requirement shall be indicated on the data sheet shown in Appendix A.

General-purpose turbines are horizontal or vertical turbines used to drive equipment that usually is spared, is relatively small in size (horsepower), or is in noncritical! service-such as drives for pumps, fans, generators, or compressors. They are intended for applications where steam conditions will not exceed 600 psig pressure and 750service-such as drives for pumps, fans, generators, or compressors.
