scope:

This standard applies to any diesel leak detector. Diesel leak detectors which do not precisely conform to these requirements may be approved if they meet the intent of the standard. Conversely, those that do conform may not be approved if they do not meet the intent of the standard or if other conditions govern. The detection of other hydrocarbons will be considered as applicable.

Purpose

This standard states Approval requirements for diesel leak detectors.

Approval criteria may include, but are not limited to, performance requirements, marking requirements, examination of manufacturing facility(ies), audit of quality assurance procedures, and a follow-up program.
