scope:

This Standard applies to lifts that are used as a Secondary Means of Vertical Transportation in the station which shall be referred to as SMVT lifts.

Lifts that are used as a Primary Means of Vertical Transportation in the station shall be referred to as PMVT lifts. PMVT lifts are not covered by this Standard; refer to LU standard 1-093.

This Standard applies to the stages of design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and safe use of all SMVT lifts. This includes firefighters lifts, evacuation lifts and the modernisation of existing lift installations.

This Standard applies to lifts and inclined lifts.

This Standard does not apply to lifting platforms.

This Standard does not apply to the stages of design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and safe use of SMVT lifts in non-operational areas.

Purpose 

The purpose of this Standard is to define the requirements for all SMVT lifts in LU Stations within operational areas.
