MODUK - DEF STAN 22-014

Specification for the procurement of Fire Retardant Treated Timber for Naval Use

inactive
Organization: MODUK
Publication Date: 28 September 2018
Status: inactive
Page Count: 15
scope:

This document recommends the industrial standards to be applied to the treatment of timber to attain a fire retardant finish and lists the most commonly used timbers.

It also describes the minimum retention level for timber treatment, by timber type, in order to meet the more stringent defence standards, where the retained material content shall be in excess of the normal industrial levels.

This document supersedes the earlier standard, DS 07-269 and has been expanded to include all timber types and products normally used, or expected to be used in naval vessels. Materials now covered by this standard now include plywood, solid timbers, MDF and fibre board, whereas earlier versions of this standard only covered Plywood for Naval Requirements.
