scope:

This standard applies to the expansion or development of existing Adhesion Management Systems and any new Adhesion Management System which is retrofitted to existing assets or is installed as part of new asset introduction.

This standard covers the requirements which are specific to Adhesion Management. Requirements which are in other standards have therefore not been duplicated in this document.

The extent of the application of this standard is as follows:

a) Any new Adhesion Management System shall comply with this standard in its entirety.

b) Any existing Adhesion Management System, including any enhancements implemented, shall comply with this standard as far as reasonably practicable.

The Standard is to be used by those involved in or responsible for any of the following activities:

a) Specifying or delivering a new Adhesion Management System

b) Managing, maintaining or improving an existing Adhesion management System

Any changes to a Line which affect the adhesion requirements, e.g. in respect of its infrastructure, operation, time table, rolling stock or signalling, shall require the Adhesion Management System on that Line to be reviewed against the requirements defined in this Standard.
