This Standard specifies tests and requirements for primary batteries with aqueous electrolyte to ensure their safe operation under intended use and reasonably foreseeable misuse.

NOTE 1 Herein, the primary batteries with aqueous electrolyte refer to five battery systems shown in Table 1

NOTE 2 Although this Standard specifies the safety of primary batteries with aqueous electrolyte, it is not, by itself, intended to be used for conformity assessment purposes

NOTE 3 The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.

IEC 60086-5: 2016 Primary batteries-Part 5: Safety of batteries with aqueous electrolyte (MOD)

In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/IEC Guide 21-1
