Foreword

This amendment to DIN 14811:2008-01 has been prepared by the DIN-Normenausschuss Feuerwehrwesen (FNFW) (DIN Standards Committee Firefighting and Fire Protection), Working Committee NA 031-04-04 AA Schläuche und Armaturen (SpA zu CEN/TC 192/WG 1 und WG 8).

Hoses as in this standard serve to convey fire extinguishing media. When empty, such hoses can be rolled or folded flat.

This third Amendment to DIN 14811:2008-01 was necessary to bring specifications regarding pressure loss in C 42 hoses and B 70 hoses in line with current practice. The previously specified values have been shown to be too low and not technically feasible. Thus, this Amendment specifies values that are more common in practice. For this reason, this Amendment does not present any disadvantages to fire brigades.

In addition to this Amendment A3, the Working Committee will also publish an Amendment A4 which covers new regulations governing conformity assessment; because Amendment A4 is considerably greater in scope, it will take some time before it is ready for publication.

Once work on Amendment A4 has been completed, a new consolidated edition of DIN 14811, including all Amendments which have been issued to date, will be published.
