This specification covers High Friction Surface Treatments (HFST) for asphalt and concrete pavements. The HFST is comprised of a minimum of a single layer using a binder resin system and surface-applied aggregate.

Binder resin systems include low modulus epoxies, methyl methacrylate (MMA), and polyester resins.

High friction surface applied aggregate is refractory grade calcined bauxite aggregate.
