This directive establishes policies for managing scientific and technical information. It applies to all Air Force military and civilian personnel; members of the Air Force Reserve; members of the Air National Guard; and other individuals or organizations as required by binding agreement or obligation with the Department of the Air Force. This Air Force Policy Directive (AFPD) implements Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 3200.12, DoD Scientific and Technical Information Program (STIP); DoDI 3200.14, Principles and Operational Parameters of the DoD Scientific and Technical Information Program; DoDI 5230.24, Distribution Statements on Technical Documents; Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 5230.25, Withholding of Unclassified Technical Data from Public Disclosure; DoDI 5230.27, Presentation of DoDRelated Scientific and Technical Papers at Meetings. If there is any conflicting guidance between this AFPD and Department of Defense (DoD) issuances, the latter shall take precedence. This AFPD cannot be supplemented. Refer recommended changes and questions about this publication to the office of primary responsibility (OPR) using the AF Form 847, Recommendation for Change of Publication; route AF Forms 847 from the field through the appropriate functional chain of command. Ensure that all records created as a result of processes prescribed in this publication are maintained in accordance with (IAW) Air Force Manual (AFMAN) 33-363, Management of Records, and disposed of IAW Air Force Records Information Management System (AFRIMS) Records Disposition Schedule (RDS).
