The plan outlines the training individuals in this Air Force Specialty (AFS) should receive in order to develop and progress throughout their careers. For purposes of this plan, training is divided into entry level, upgrade, and proficiency training. Initial skills training is mandatory training for all officers. Normally, this training is conducted by USAFSAM. Upgrade training (UGT) identifies the mandatory courses, qualification requirements, and educational requirements for award of the intermediate (43E2X), qualified (43E3X) or staff (43E4X) level. Proficiency training is additional training provided to personnel to increase their skills and knowledge beyond the minimum required for upgrade.
