Registration of Products

inactive
Organization: LUL
Publication Date: 1 February 2010
Status: inactive
Page Count: 10
scope:

This Standard describes the process that requires the registration of new or modified Products on the LU Network.

The Products which this Standard applies are listed in Attachment 1. However, there is no restriction on other Products which may be registered according to this Standard.

This Standard does not apply retrospectively to Products already in use on the LU Network. However, there is no restriction on registering these Products according to this Standard.

This Standard defines how LU will control the addition, updating and access to the Product Register.

For the avoidance of doubt, the purpose of the Product Register is not to:

a) provide a finite list of accepted Products from which a supplier must choose; suppliers can choose to develop their own Products to meet requirements;

b) remove the obligation to provide assurance of the suitability of a Product to meet requirements or standards;

c) remove the obligation to ensure compliance with appropriate Category 1 or Category 2 Standards and other specified requirements.

Purpose

The purpose of the Standard is to enable London Underground (LU) to maintain a Product Register.

The objective of this Standard is to:

a) provide a transparent means of identifying how Products are accepted or rejected for use on LU Network;

b) provide a transparent audit trail of recording initial acceptance or rejection and subsequent changes to acceptance, including whether a Product has been withdrawn;

c) provide a single source of accepted and rejected Products which suppliers with controlled access can view;

d) set out a structured approach to interface between LU and suppliers undertaking acceptance ("Acceptance Bodies").
