scope:

Use/relationship: This Data Item Description (DID) specifies the required data and format of packaging data to be submitted for parts and equipment packaged by the contractor.

a. This DID identifies the format and content preparation instructions for preservation and packing data resulting from the work task described by 4.1 of MIL-STD-2073-1. The data must be prepared for common, selective, and special group items defined in MIL-STD-2073-1.

b. This DID is applicable whenever packaging data specified by appendix E of MIL-STD-2073-1 is submitted by contractors to the DoD contracting activity (packaging organization).

c. When packaging data is being generated by DI-SESS-81758, do not use DI-PACK-80120.

d. When a Special Packaging Instruction (SPI) is required, the instruction shall be prepared in accordance with DI-PACK-80121C, in addition to submitting information specified in this DID for special group items.

e. This DID supersedes DI-PACK-80120B.
