scope:

The requirements of this Specification apply to Railway Services such as signalling, electrification, plant, and telecommunications cables, track drainage and Outside Party Services which are required to cross under the tracks.

The requirements of this Specification do not apply to:

• Services within bridges constructed under the tracks

• Services passing under the track in the roadway beneath a bridge span

• Railway Services, such as signalling tail cables, or traction supply track feeder cables required to cross the tracks, and which are laid directly on the ballast or within a duct placed in the ballast.

PURPOSE

This Specification provides the performance specification for new Undertrack Crossings on Railtrack owned or controlled land, and the procedures to be followed in the planning, design, including technical approval, execution and supervision of Undertrack Crossings.
