This Code of Practice applies to Railtrack owned infrastructure where application and reapplication of protective treatment is necessary for protection or aesthetic purposes. Such infrastructure includes:
• bridges;
• signal boxes, ground frames and signal equipment and support structures;
• electrical equipment housings, enclosures and signalling apparatus cases;
• station structures and buildings;
• level crossings gates, barriers and associated equipment cases.
PURPOSE
This Code of Practice gives guidance on the selection, application and reapplication of protective treatment to Railtrack's infrastructure.
This document should be read in conjunction with Railtrack Line Standard RT/CE/S/039: Specification RT98 - Protective Treatments for Railtrack's Infrastructure referred to in this document as RT98.
The recommendations for colours of protective treatments applied to signalling equipment and supports will ensure compliance with the requirements of GK/RT0005: Safety Related Colours for Signalling Application and GK/RT0031: Lineside Signals and Indicators.
