Scope.
This specification covers the requirements for aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) liquid concentrate fire extinguishing agents consisting of surfactants and other compounds, as required, to conform to this specification. At the time of use they shall be diluted with fresh or sea water to form a fire-extinguishing solution. Certain proportioning equipment may produce AFFF solutions of extreme concentrations; requirements for such concentrations are specified herein.
Classification.
Concentrates shall be of the following types, as specified (see 6.2):
Type 3 - To be used as three parts concentrate to ninety-seven parts water by volume solution.
Type 6 - To be used as six parts concentrate to ninety-four parts water by volume solution.
