Purpose.

To publish the mission, functions, and tasks of the Naval Intelligence Activity (NIA) per reference (a), and to delegate authorities to Director, NIA as set forth in references (b) through (f). This version revises NIA's mission to direct, oversee, and manage the collection, analysis, production, and dissemination of maritime intelligence in support of Department of the Navy, Department of Defense, intelligence community (IC), and national decision makers; to synchronize intelligence activities across the naval intelligence enterprise with other elements of the IC; and, as a secondary mission, provide direct support to the Director of Naval Intelligence (DNI) and other elements of the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations as directed by DNI.
